Rogue Wave, when is on a quiet pitch, is lovely. I had first known them on Tumblr when I heard them do the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' cover of "Maps". That song was a wonderful find since I started exploring songs. Such a relaxing imitation of wave-like blowing of the wind above a briny-shore. Well, in music, once you'd discover a band, you'd venture to listen for more even though the music was not as good as what you've initially found. The same thing applies when I listened to their song called "Lullaby". Of course, their signature guitar-and-drum collab was still present; but this time, the involvement of piano and electric guitar. But considering the first song I had heard of them, if I'd have a chance to choose, I'd go for Maps. They owned the song with all of their uniqueness. I'd love to hear it beside a sunny beach shore while reading Pablo Neruda or Edgar Allan Poe.
Rogue Wave's soft and nonchalant music worked that way. I liked Maps in any of the existing versions, but the original Yeah Yeah Yeahs and any other covers (like Florence and the Machine's) were quite nasty when I listened to them while reading. I rather reserved hearing them while I was browsing the internet :). Their covers were much more physical.
Ooh la la.
